JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a System Analyst is expected to perform include:

  • Analysing user requirements, procedures and problems to automate processing, develop new system or to improve existing computer system
  • Writing technical report, memoranda and instructional manuals to document programme development
  • Upgrading systems and correcting errors to maintain system after implementation​
WORK ENVIRONMENT 1, 2, 4
  • It is a desk job
  • Need not handle a team
  • Travelling is not a part of this job role
  • Part-time and contractual jobs are available in some cities
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • Organizations usually work for 5/6 days a week and 9/10 hours everyday. This may vary from organization to organization
  • Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible
  • Shift system may predominantly not be available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 4

Preferably, B.E/B.Tech/MCA/MBA

  • Proficient in analysing current operational procedures and identifying problems by way of interacting with organization personnel
  • Knowledge of specific input and output requirements such as forms of data input, how to summarise data and formats for reports
  • Adept at writing detailed description of user needs, programme functions and steps required to develop or modify computer programme
  • Well-versed in reviewing computer system capabilities, workflow and scheduling limitations to determine whether the requested programme or programme change is possible within existing system
  • Proficient in developing new systems to improve production or workflow as required
  • Adept at preparing workflow charts and diagrams to specify in detail operations to be performed by equipment and computer programmes and by personnel in the system
  • Well-versed in development of new information systems to meet current and projected needs
  • Proficient in upgrading systems and correcting errors to maintain system
  • Knowledge of resolving work problems related to flow charts, project specifications or programming
  • Adept at directing and co-ordinating work of others to develop, test, install, and modify programmes
  • Knowledge of current technical development in IT industry
  • Knowledge of preparing time and cost estimates for the project
