JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks that a De-hairer, Machine/Dehairer Machine Operator is expected to perform include:
  • Removing hair from hide or skin by stretching it through machine rollers fitted with blunt spiral blades
  • Collecting and keeping limed skins near machine for de-hairing
  • Placing skin or hide over lower roller of machine and stretching it by hand to remove wrinkles
  • Starting machine to rotate upper roller of machine fitted with blunt spiral blades
  • Operating foot pedal of machine to raise lower roller of machine with skin on for de-hairing
  • Adjusting blunt spiral blades of upper rotating roller to shave or de-hair skin or hide

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 2
  • It needs one to be on their toes
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling is not part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
  • Work from home option is not available

 

Working hours
  • Factories usually work for 6 days a week for 8 hours every day. This may vary from factory to factory
  • Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 2
Minimum – 8th pass

  • Proficient in identifying the hide and side of the leather
  • Knowledge of leather thickness
  • Knowledge of machinery to be used for any particular job
  • Proficient in handling machinery and materials
  • Well-versed with handling equipment and its operating procedures
  • Proficient  in following work instructions

  • Knowledge of different types of leather and their tanning processes
  • Knowledge of machineries
  • Knowledge of procedures
