JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks that a De-limer is expected to perform include:
  • Processing hides or skins treated with lime in fat-and-de-liming solution for required period to remove lime, reduce their swelling and make them flexible
  • Preparing de-liming solution in vat by mixing chemicals, acids and other de-liming materials in prescribed quantities of water
  • Filling pit or tank with required amount of water and pouring de-liming solution in tank
  • Stirring solution and changing position of skin or hide in de-liming tank using wooden paddle
  • Removing de-limed leather after prescribed period, rinsing de-limed skin or hide in water thoroughly
  • Hanging skin to ooze out excess water, draining out de-limed solution from tank, cleaning tank with water, and repeating the process

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 2
  • It needs one to be on their toes
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling is not part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
  • Work from home option is not available

 

Working hours
  • Factories usually work for 6 days a week for 8 hours every day. This may vary from factory to factory
  • Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 2
Minimum – 5th pass

  • Knowledge of machinery being used for a particular job
  • Proficient in handling machinery and materials
  • Adept with handling equipment and its operating procedures
  • Proficient in following work instructions
  • Knowledge of different chemicals and their mixing ratios

  • Knowledge of different types of  leather and their tanning processes

  • Knowledge of machineries

  • Knowledge of procedures
