JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks a Pattern Maker (Footwear) is expected to perform include:
  • Preparing patterns for cutting or trimming parts of footwear
  • Making temporary paper pattern of various parts of shoes such as ramp, tongue, toe-box by sketching part
  • Cutting around outline or by fitting paper over shoe last to obtain contour
  • Outlining papers pattern into sheet metal, thin wood, millboard, etc. and sawing out finished pattern  
  • Binding edges of pattern with thin metal strip

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • It is a desk job

  • Need not handle a team

  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role

  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available

  • Work from home option is available

Working hours
  • Factories usually work for 6 days a week for 8 hours everyday. This may vary from factory to factory
  • Self-employment is an option in this case working hours and working days will be flexible
  • Shift system may not be available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 3

Minimum – 8th pass

  • Knowledge of the feet size and size conversion methods required
  • Proficient in handling all tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of different types of materials which is being used for this particular operation
  • Knowledge of different kinds of shoe measurement
  • Proficient in size grading
