JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Manager,Traffic is expected to perform include:

  • Studying company freight and passenger classifications, rates and tariffs, and suggesting improvements
  • Analyzing financial reports on operations
  • Evaluating existing classifications, rates and tariffs
  • Creating proposals for increasing revenues, expanding schedules or routes
  • Applying for new rates, schedules or routes
  • Negotiating with other transportation companies on division of interline revenues
  • Directing and co-ordinating activities of workers in classification of shipments, and in applying and enforcing rates and tariffs
  • Consulting with other companies on traffic movement problems
WORK ENVIRONMENT 
  • It is mostlya desk job
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling may not be a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs may be available
  • Work from home option may be available
Working hours
  • Working is 8/9 hours for 5/6 days a week

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 

Minimum – Bachelor’s degree in any stream

KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Detailed knowledge of company freight and passenger transport policy
  • In-depth knowledge of transport routes, schedule, tariff, rates, etc.
  • Detailed knowledge of various research methodologies
  • Knowledge of freight handling procedures, in-transit storage, traffic movements, etc.
