JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks an Assembler, Workshop Machines and Equipment is expected to perform include:
  • Assembling finished mechanical components to form specific unit or machine such as lathe, grinder, milling machine, pump etc. using hand tools and machines
  • Studying drawings or sketches for fitting and assembly details
  • Placing different finished metal components of machines like frames, cross members, bearings, bottom and top plates, etc. on floor and assembling them together in prescribed sequence, using nuts, bolts etc.
  • Fitting different parts together to form the complete unit or part of the unit
  • Checking for accuracy and adherence to specifications
  • Testing the performance of final unit
  • Repairing and overhauling machines, if required

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • It is a field job

  • Need not handle a team

  • Local travelling is not a part of this job

  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities

  • Work from home option is not available

Working hours

  • Mining companies usually work for 6 days a week and 8/10 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company

  • Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 
Minimum – Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Automobile, Electrical, Electronics/Telecommunication, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Production/Industrial

 

KEY COMPETENCIES 
  • Proficient in carrying out further tooling while assembling
  • Adept in fitting different parts together to form complete unit or parts of a unit
  • Well-versed with checking during assembly stages for accuracy of fitting and to correspond to specifications
  • Skilled in finishing fitting and files off edges or ends of parts where necessary using hand files, chisels etc.
  • Proficient in testing either finished main assembly or sub assembly parts for specified performance and making necessary adjustmenst to parts using hand tools
  • Skilled in installing assembled units at site or in factories for actual running
  • Knowledge of repairing and overhauling machines
