JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks a Line Inspector, Telegraph and Telephone is expected to perform include:

Supervising the execution of new installations and maintenance of existing telephone and telegraph lines
Estimating expenditure and equipment required for executing new installations
Supervising work of installation of telephone and telegraph lines at site
Checking faulty lines to locate and remove defects and conducting maintenance check of lines to ensure efficient performance of communication system
Supervising utilization of staff engaged in installation and maintenance work

WORK ENVIRONMENT ²

It is not a desk job
The role involves team handling a team of personnel
Travelling is required on the job
Part-time work and contractual jobs are available
Work from home option is not available

Working hours

Work is for 5/6 days a week and minimum 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company
The job at times is on call basis
It does not involve shift duty

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

Preferably – Diploma/B.Sc/BE/B-Tech/ME/M-Tech/M.Sc – Electrical/Electronic or Communication

KEY COMPETENCIES

Thorough knowledge of installing and maintaining existing telephone and telegraph lines
Expertise in removing defects from faulty lines and conducting maintenance check of lines
In-depth knowledge of the process and procedure in laying out new lines
