JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks a Radar Operator is expected to perform include:

Operating and maintaining radar equipment to give range and direction of targets or objects such as aircrafts, fog, rain clouds and cyclonic storm in sky around operating station
Switching on radar set and opening filaments and blower units
Allowing the set to warm up and raising high-tension voltage slowly to achieve operating condition
Switching aerial rotation circuit, and observing images on radar screens with aid of short, medium or long range scales to determine distance altitude, direction and speed of object detected
Employing voice communication (radio-telephone or Morse) to convey information to the operating room

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ³

Preferably, diploma in engineering

Knowledge of aerial rotation circuit
