JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Caretaker, Building is expected to perform include:

  • Taking care of houses, offices, institutions, public and other buildings
  • Maintaining them in orderly and clean condition
  • Arranging cleaning and repairing of building
  • Keeping keys of vacant houses and flats
  • Attending to enquiries and complaints of tenants
  • Providing services such as arrangement for additional lighting, heating or ventilating equipment
  • Keeping record of labour and material costs for maintenance of building
  • Maintaining garden, lawns and hedges of building
  • Renting out residential building
WORK ENVIRONMENT 2, 1
  • It is not a desk job
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling is not required
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • The individual usually works for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. Buildings remains open and functional for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week
  • Shift system is available
  • Overtime may be required

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 3

Preferably, 10th/12th pass

KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Ability to carry out security procedures for buildings and grounds
  • Proficient in ensuring clear access to all service isolators (Gas, Electricity, Water)
  • Well-versed with all cleaning and related operations to ensure safety of staff and others
  • Knowledge of routine maintenance procedures and inspection of ancillary equipment
  • Well-versed with necessary safety procedures in the event of fire, flood, breaking and entering, accident or major damage
