The tasks that a General Manager, Lodging and Catering Services is expected to perform include:

  • Organizing and supervising, within authority delegated, efficient utilization of resources in public or private organization or an establishment engaged in preparing and serving food beverages, etc. to the public
  • Building a strong working relationship with the client
  • Managing the catering contract
  • Meeting the client's needs and the organisation’s  financial targets
  • Leading Food & Beverage team and setting standards
  • Liaising with the client
  • Monitoring the quality of the food and service
  • Recruiting and training staff – depending on the type of contract
WORK ENVIRONMENT 1, 2
  • It is not a desk job
  • Needs to handle a team of Catering Workers
  • Local travelling is may be a part of this job
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are not available
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • Individual usually works for 5/6 days a week and 10/12 hours everyday. The organization or institution remains open and functional for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week
  • Shift system may be available
  • Overtime may be required

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 4

Preferably, Bachelors in Hotel Management

  • Ability to maintain the meeting recordings with various stakeholders
  • Well-versed with company policies
  • Ability to draft strategic plans for efficient running of lodging and catering services
