JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks a Voice-Over Artist is expected to perform include:
  • Auditioning for voice roles in productions including films, television, advertising (all media), radio plays, animation, digital media (mobile, internet etc.), dubbed productions, corporate films, educational films, audio dramas, telecom (IVR, Voice-mail etc.), channel voices
  • Performing imaging, narration, voice-overs, announcements, impersonations/ mimicry according to requirements

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • It is not a desk job

  • Work from home option is not available

  • Part-time work and contractual jobs maybe available

  • Travelling maybe a part of this job

  • Need not handle a team

Working hours
  • Media and entertainment companies usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company
  • Shift system maybe available
  • Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 
Minimum – High school

 

KEY COMPETENCIES 1

Ability to understand the technical language of voicing

  • Knowledge about performance techniques and principles
  • Familiar with the essentials for performance (communication skills, voice modulation, flair for mimicry and drama, sense of humour, emotional rendering etc.)
  • Knowledge about the basics of the media industry and the different roles different professionals play (especially for advertising) 
  • Ability to have a good ear for different types of sounds and voices
  • Ability modulate voice in different accents (regional, international) 
  • Ability to maintain continuity of voice quality throughout the performance
  • Skilled to play the tempo, tone, volume and pitch depending on the directors and films requirements
  • Ability to speak with a clear, clean and neutral accent and use voice to convey emotions and different characters through developed techniques
