JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks an Aerial Ropeway Operator is expected to perform include:
  • Operating endless ropeway to transport passengers from one place to another such as from pithed or refinery across river, hill tops, etc.
  • Checking that buckets and cages are securely clamped to rope, pulley is running freely and rope is in working order
  • Maintaining desired distance between each cage in ropeway by manipulating mechanical retarder to prevent collision
  • Keeping record of  rounds of passengers transported
  • Undertaking machine repair and maintenance work

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • It is a field job

  • Need not handle a team

  • Local travelling is not a part of this job

  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities

  • Work from home option is not available

Working hours

  • Mining companies usually work for 6 days a week and 8/10 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company

  • Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 
ITI graduate

 

KEY COMPETENCIES 
  • Adept with observing  signal panel and listening for warning signal to identify malfunctioning of automatic offloading equipment
  • Proficient in pulling levers to position cages/buckets on ground or platform for boarding and  pushing button for offloading
  • Well-versed in communicating readiness of load to be conveyed via signals or telephonically
  • Proficient in maintaining desired distance between each cage in ropeway by manipulating mechanical retarder to prevent collision
  • Adept in observing and regulating movement of rope
  • Well-versed in switching off ropeway and applying  brakes on receiving signal from load receiving end
  • Proficient in maintaining record of rounds of passengers transported
  • Knowledge of undertaking repair and maintenance work of plant and equipment
