JOB DESCRIPTION 

The tasks a Depot Starter, Tram is expected to perform include:

  • Supervising work relating to the allocation of operational staff
  • Ensuring that the trams start from the depots according to the timetable
  • Preparing the allocation statement showing the route, route symbol and vehicles assigned
  • Rearranging services during peak hours and periods of traffic congestion under instruction from higher authorities
  • Maintaining the daily attendance report of the Tram Conductors and Drivers and arranging substitutes for absentees
  • Submitting the report of vehicles turned out, the route covered etc.
WORK ENVIRONMENT 
  • It is a desk job
  • May need to handle a team
  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs may be available in some cities
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • Working hours are 8 hours everyday for 6 days a week

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

KEY COMPETENCIES 
  • Proficient in preparing the allocation statement by obtaining the vehicle numbers from the engineering department for the morning and evening turn out
  • Well-versed in maintaining the daily duty rotation board, weekly offs, leave and absentee statements of the Tram Conductors and Drivers
  • Adept at assigning Drivers and Conductors for duty to the appropriate vehicles according to the requirements of each vehicle
  • Proficient in announcing the crew and vehicle numbers as per the stabling plan and ensuring that the vehicles turn out from the depot at the scheduled time
  • Well-versed in ensuring that the trams display the appropriate route, route symbol and destination boards
  • Well-versed in forwarding the lost items handed over by the Conductors, Drivers or passengers to the lost property office at headquarters
  • Proficient in taking special measures during disturbances or difficult conditions
