JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Meteorologist is expected to perform include:

  • Studying, compiling and interpreting weather data
  • Forecasting changes in weather over short and long periods
  • Supplying meteorological information for various interests such as agriculture, aviation, etc.
  • Setting up meteorological post equipped with special devices and equipment such as barometer, thermometer, anemometer, hygrometer, humidity recorders, balloons and radio-theodolite
  • Observing and recording readings from equipment and analysing them to determine baroic pressure, temperature and moisture content of air, fog and snow, direction and speed of wind, rainfall and atmospheric ozone
  • Informing aerodrome authorities about weather conditions for safety of planes in flight
  • Preparing weather charts and maps indicating climatic and weather conditions
  • Checking recording instruments, hydrogen balloons, equipment and accessories periodically and ensuring their accuracy and correct performance​

Preferably, Bachelor's degree in meteorology

  • Skilled in using scientific equipment such as barometer, thermometer, hygrometer, etc.
  • Skilled in observing and forecasting changes in the weather
  • Knowledge of the threshold values of atmospheric pressure, temperature, etc.
  • Skilled in using the relevant software available
  • Proficient in issuing warnings in case of oncoming disasters
  • In-depth knowledge of the kind of effect weather has on agriculture, navigation and aviation
  • Skilled in troubleshooting techniques and keeping the equipment in working state all the time​
