JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Librarian (Film) is expected to perform include:

  • Organizing and maintaining collection of processed motion pictures for future use or reference
  • Receiving films both 55 mm and 16 mm, positive and negative as well as master positive, reference prints, library prints, etc.
  • Preparing complete catalogue index and storing MMS by tide or scene reference
  • Selecting and issuing films as per requisitions received from various departments such as editing, sound, direction, etc.
  • Arranging for loaning of films to private parties
  • Attending queries received for purchase of stock shots and stock sound effects
  • Cutting and assembling portions of positive films​
WORK ENVIRONMENT 1, 2
  • It is mostly a desk job
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs may be available
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • Libraries usually work for 6/7 days a week and 7/8 hours everyday. This may vary from library to library
  • Shift system may be available
  • Overtime may be required

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 3

Preferably, B.L.I.Sc.

KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • In-depth knowledge of methods for safe storage of films
  • Ability to avoid any sort of discrepancy such as piracy from the library
  • Skilled in maintaining record of films present in the library and the ones that are rented out​
  • Skilled in storing films according to their types of prints
  • Skilled in making a catalogue for all the films stored in the library and updating it, when required
  • Knowledge of different categories of films and their system of filing

  • Ability to adapt in any environment
