JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks an Anthropologist, General is expected to perform include:

  • Investigating the evolution of the human race by studying the development of physical characteristics, religious and cultural practices, etc. at different periods of time
  • Identifying the cultural periods with dates in history by studying the remains of cultures recorded on stones, pottery, bones, etc.
  • Undertaking the excavations or exploration of pre-historic sites
  • Preserving, reconstructing and classifying the museum objects of the cultural, physical, technological and aesthetic life of man
  • Arranging for the proper display of objects in all the exhibitions
  • Studying the biological aspects of man within broad racial groups, traces, genetic identity and similarities of physical characteristics 
  • Calculating the accurate measurement and correlation between pathological phenomena and bodily form
  • Determining the inter-relationship of psychological reactions to stresses of the natural and social environment
  • Studying and discussing the possible formation of language
  • Evaluating all the historical events that are reflected in the process of identification of the independent stems in the vocabulary of various languages 
  • Tracing the links between languages and cultures
  • Studying the forms of social organizations and institutions like family and state
  • Tracing the development in areas of comparative studies to infer the relationship between social requirements and institutional structures
  • Planning, organizing and conducting sample surveys
  • Studying case studies, where necessary, for the collection of relevant data
  • Utilizing the collected data to identify various characteristics of the community and culture
  • Evaluating the cause and formation of resistance to external change within a community
  • Utilizing the data for application in the solution of social problems that involve change and adaptation​
WORK ENVIRONMENT 1, 2
  • It is not a desk job
  • May need to handle a team
  • Local travelling is a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs may be available

Working hours
  • Organizations usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from organization to organization

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 3

Preferably, Master's degree in anthropology or equivalent

  • Knowledge of the physical characteristics, religious and cultural practices, etc. that were prevalent at different periods of time
  • Skilled in identifying the cultural periods by studying remains 
  • Proficient in studying stones, pottery, bones, etc. and evaluating their cultural records
  • Skilled in taking up excavations at pre-historic sites
  • Skilled in classifying museum objects according to their parameters
  • Knowledge of broad racial groups, traces, genetic identity and similarities of physical characteristics

  • Skilled in studying the development and behaviours of human beings
  • Skilled in doing research 
  • Skilled in dealing with the history of the development of human beings and making reports on updates
  • Proficient in understanding the social, cultural and physical growth and behaviour of mankind​
