JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks an Anthropologist, Cultural is expected to perform include:

  • Planning, organizing and conducting investigations into the physical, social and mental characteristics of both past and present groups of human beings
  • Examining the governing factors of human cultural life
  • Interpreting the cultural phenomena over large geographical areas and long time spans
  • Identifying and isolating the cultural groups spread over large regions
  • Studying the differences and similarities in the characteristics of different cultural groups
  • Identifying the value systems, motivations and expressions of various human urges and requirements through institutional set-up
  • Initiating the pilot studies into the attitudes, values, technology, personality, etc., of cultural groups 
  • Employing suitable scientific methods like interviews, questionnaires, participant observation and genealogical studies
  • Obtaining a detailed understanding of the social structure and culture of a particular group
  • Classifying the data collected, analysing it and writing the reports accordingly
  • Drawing a comparison between the different cultural groups to define the typology of each culture
  • Deriving the principles of group behaviour, forms of motivation and values that are upheld in different cultures for purposes of guidance and control in problems of social engineering
  • Tracing the cultural evolution and pattern of change over time
  • Studying the remains of ancient cultures and records in history, changes in institutions, technology, law, religion, etc.
  • Seeking the application of data on special implications of cultural change
  • Evaluating social adaptation in the fields of education, tribal and rural community development, health and medicine, industrial relations and administration
  • Studying the folk dance, drama and music of tribal and peasant communities​

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 3
Preferably​, Master's degree in anthropology or equivalent with evidence of specialization in cultural anthropology​
