JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks a Child and Family Social Worker is expected to perform include:
  • Providing social services and assistance to improve the social and psychological functioning of children and their families 
  • Maximising the family well being and the academic functioning of children
  • Assisting the single parents, arranging adoptions and finding foster homes for abandoned or abused children
  • Interviewing the clients individually, in families or in groups so as to assess their situations, capabilities and problems
  • Counselling the individuals, groups, families or communities regarding issues including mental health, poverty, physicalabuse, rehabilitation, social adjustment, child care, and/or medical care
  • Maintaining all the case history records and preparing reports
  • Consulting parents, teachers and other school personnel to determine causes of problems such as truancy and misbehaviour and providing implement solutions for the same
  • Counselling the parents with child rearing problems, by interviewing the child and family, to determine whether further action is required or not
  • Developing and reviewing the service plans in consultation with client
  • Performing the follow-ups assessing the quantity and quality of services provided
  • Collecting the supplementary information needed to assist client such as medical records or school reports
  • Addressing legal issues such as child abuse and discipline
  • Assisting with hearings of legal cases and providing testimony to inform custody arrangements
  • Providing arrangements for support services, such as childcare, prenatal care, substance abuse treatment, job training, counselling or parenting classes so as to prevent more serious problems from developing
WORK ENVIRONMENT 1
  • It is a desk job

  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs maybe available

Working hours
  • Offices usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from office to office

Minimum – Masters degree in Social Work (MSW)
