JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Laboratory Assistant, Physical is expected to perform include:

  • Assisting in carrying out routine duties in a physical laboratory 
  • Setting up the required apparatus and instruments in the correct position for conducting experiments and research work
  • Making necessary electrical connections to equipment and instruments as required
  • Recording routine and other observations as indicated by the instruments 
  • Making necessary calculations 
  • Removing the apparatus when not in use
  • Cleaning and maintaining the apparatus to maintain its good condition
  • ​Performing minor repairs to equipment and apparatus
  • Storing and maintaining the account of instruments, equipment, apparatus, etc. if required​
WORK ENVIRONMENT 1, 2
  • It is not a desk job
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are not available
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • Organizations usually work for 5/6 days a week and 6/7 hours everyday. This may vary from organization to organization 
  • Shift system may be available
  • Overtime may be required

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 3

Preferably, ITI graduate in chemical/electroplating

  • Familiar with all the work activities in the physical laboratory
  • Skilled in doing necessary calculations
  • Knowledge of the apparatus and instruments that are used and the exact position in which they should be placed
  • Proficient in carrying out the required electrical connections in the proper manner
  • Skilled in maintaining the apparatus in the proper manner when not in use
