JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks a Blue Printer is expected to perform include:
  • Preparing prints of drawings and sketches on sensitized paper (blue printing paper) using printing frames or machines
  • Turning printing frame to get glass side facing ground
  • Placing original drawing or sketch on glass of printing frame to serve as original and spreading sensitive paper (special type of blue printing paper) over it
WORK ENVIRONMENT 
  • It needs one to be on their toes 
  • Need not handle a team 
  • Travelling maybe a part of this job
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • Working hours are 10/12 hours everyday for 5/6 days a week. This may vary from company to company
  • Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 3

Minimum – 10th pass with ITI certificate in relevant category

KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of closing door of printing frame tightly usingpaper sheets and felt strips
  • Proficiency in pushing trolleyframe (in which printing frame is fitted) to sunlight and tilting printing frame to bringglass surface to face sun light and tightening itthere
  • Adept at exposing frame to sunlight for fixedperiod as directed depending on season andtype of sensitive paper used
  • Well-versed with removing exposed paper from frame and developing it infixing bath (developer)
  • Proficiency in washing fixed orprinted paper (blueprint) in water and drying it in shade or in hot chamber
DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of placing role of sensitive paper and original together, exposing for specified period and feeding back original every time as it comes out of delivery
  • Knowledge of developing exposed sensitized paper with fumes of liquid ammonia either separately in special chamber or in second chamber of automatic printing machine if provided
  • Knowledge of preparing sensitive paper with special chemical solution
  • Knowledge of cleaning and oiling printing trolley and frame
