JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Paraffin Plant Operator (Petrol Refining) is expected to perform include:

  • Operating filter presses to separate oil of paraffin distillate from paraffin wax
  • Installing filter plates using hand tools, and turning hand wheel to adjust hydraulic ram pressure
  • Turning valves to regulate flow of chilled distillate into filter press
  • Starting machine to activate hydraulic rams to squeeze oil from distillate as wax solidifies
  • Observing oil pressed from filter plates and adjusting ram pressure to extract maximum amount of oil from wax
  • Scraping accumulated wax from filter plate into spiral conveyer that carries it to melting pan​
  • Turning valve to regulate flow of steam into melting pan to heat wax
  • Starting pumps to return salvaged distillate from tank to filter press for reprocessing

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 4
Preferably, B.Sc. in chemistry
