JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks aFurnace Operator (Nonferrous Metal) is expected to perform include:
Operating the furnace to heat aluminium slabs and fabricated forms to specified temperature for rolling or processing 
Setting the furnace controls to regulate temperatures and heating time 
Starting the conveyors and opening the furnace doors to admit slabs, plate, sheet, and coil 
Signalling Overhead Crane Operator to uncover soaking pits and lower ingots into them 
Observing pyrometer and adjusting rheostat controls to maintain temperature between specified limits 
Measuring temperature of the product to determine the need for adjusting furnace temperature or timing cycle, using thermal instruments and charts 
Removing material from furnace, using crane, or signalling Overhead Crane Operator to transfer it to next station
Recording the time and production data
