JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Pilot, General is expected to perform include:

  • Flying aircraft to transport passengers, mail or freight for other or commercial purposes
  • Reviewing flight paper to ascertain factors such as load weight, fuel supply, weather conditions, flight route, schedule, etc.
  • Ordering changes in fuel supply, load, route or schedule to ensure safety of flight
  • Reading gauges to verify that oil, hydraulic fluid, fuel quantities and cabin pressure are at prescribed level prior to starting engines
  • Starting engines and taxies aeroplane to runway
  • Setting brakes and accelerating engines to verify operational readiness of components, such as super charges, carburettor-heaters and controls
  • Contacting control tower by radio to obtain take-off clearance and instructions
  • Releasing brakes and moving throttles and hand and foot controls to take-off and control aeroplane in flight
  • Directing aeroplane to destination adhering to flight plan and regulations and procedures 
  • Recording information such as time in flight, altitude flown and fuel consumed     
  • Instructing students or pilots in the operation of aircraft​

  • Need to handle a team of Air Hostess/Flight Steward, Co-Pilots
  • Travelling is a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • Individual usually works for 4/5 days a week with flexible working hours. The organization remains open and functional for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week
  • Shift system may be available
  • Overtime may be required

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 4

​Preferably, ​12th with valid Airline Transport Pilot’s license

  • Knowledge of flying aircrafts of all sizes, transporting passengers and cargo across the state and around the world
  • Proficient in examining the airplane’s control equipment 
  • Well-versed in determining the weather and flight conditions
  • Knowledge of checking the landing gear and requesting clearance to land from the air traffic controllers
  • Well-versed with subjects such as air regulations, aviation meteorology, air navigation and air technical
  • Proficient in preparing flight report
  • Knowledge of navigation techniques and flying instruments
  • Well-versed with the principles of safe flight
