JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks an Environmental Engineering Technician is expected to perform include:

  • Applying the theories and principles of environmental engineering to modify, test and operate equipment and devices used in the prevention, control and remediation of environmental pollution including waste treatment and site remediation
  • Assisting in the development of environmental pollution remediation devices under direction of Engineers
  • Receiving, setting up, testing and decontaminating the equipment
  • Arranging for disposal of lead, asbestos and other hazardous materials
  • Assisting in the clean-up of hazardous material spills
  • Conducting pollution surveys, and collecting and analysing samples such as air and groundwater
  • Developing work plans including writing specifications and establishing material, manpower and facilities needed
  • Inspecting facilities to monitor compliance with regulations governing substances such as asbestos, lead​ and wastewater

Preferably, Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering

  • In depth knowledge of how to conduct required tests and experiments
  • Proficient in using technology to produce the work products
  • Working knowledge of cleaning up and disposal of lead, asbestos and other hazardous materials
  • In depth knowledge related to various diseases and harmful effects of pollutants
  • Ability to read and create engineering designs related to the work profile
  • Ability to evaluate the effectiveness or performance of procedures, interventions and programmes
