JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks a Detective is expected to perform include:
  • Carrying out investigations to prevent and solve criminal cases
  • Investigating known or suspected criminals or facts of particular case to detect planned criminal activity or clues
  • Recording information and reporting it to concerned officer
  • Reporting any occurrence or information regarding planned or committed crime that comes to his attention
  • Investigating circumstances of crime and questioning witnesses when assigned to specific case
  • Examining scene of crime to obtain clues and gather evidence
  • Interrogating suspected persons to establish guilt or innocence
  • Reporting progress of investigation
  • Arresting or assisting in arrest of criminals or suspects
  • Preparing assigned cases for court, according to formalised procedure
  • Investigating and finding out missing persons or articles for restoration to legal owner

Minimum – Graduation in any stream and IPSC cleared

  • Skilled in investigating a criminal case
  • Ability to track usual suspects and their location
  • Basic knowledge of forensic study that maybe required in solving a case
  • Skilled in report writing and constantly reporting the progress to the senior officials
  • Skilled in investigating and questioning techniques
  • Basic legal knowledge and taking the cases to the court
