JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Braille Typist is expected to perform include:

  • Operating braille typewriter to transcribe reading matter for people with visual impairment
  • Reading copy and operating braille typewriter to emboss specially treated paper with various combinations of dots that characterize the braille alphabet using braille code form​​
WORK ENVIRONMENT 1, 2
  • It is a desk job
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs may be available
  • Work from home option is available
Working hours
  • Organizations usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from organization to organization

  • Ability to prepare special paper with braille codes
  • In-depth knowledge of the braille codes
