JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks a Guard, Goods Train is expected to perform include:
  • Maintaining the goods train on the scheduled route
  • Ensuring the safety of the booked goods enroute
  • Inspecting the waggons for effective sealing, locking arrangements, and proper marshalling order

  • Working hours are 8 hours everyday for 6 days a week

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 8

Minimum - University degree or its equivalent

KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Proficient in checking particulars about the destination of the train and taking charge
  • Adept at the process of reporting any discrepancies to the proper authorities for rectification
  • Well-versed in informing the Engine Driver of the routes to be followed and stoppages involved
  • Proficient in signalling for the movement of the train after obtaining clearance from the Station Master
  • Proficient in supervising the coupling and detachment of waggons and conducting the loading and unloading of freight enroute at various stops
  • Adept at maintaining the prescribed records describing the journeys undertaken, important incidents and difficulties involved
  • Knowledge of the process involved in handing over the charge of the train on completion of the journey to the proper officials
