JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks a Travelling Ticket Examiner, Railway is expected to perform include:
  • Checking and examining the tickets of passengers on running trains
  • Collecting the duty chart from the supervisor in charge and working according to the programme
  • Reporting for duty at the scheduled time in the prescribed uniform displaying the identification badge

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 10

Minimum - 12th pass or its equivalent

KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Proficient in checking and signing the tickets of passengers in the train, keeping an eye on excess luggage, contraband and unauthorized goods carried, if any, and collecting the ticket fares or luggage charges with or without penalty, as per the rules
  • Adept at depositing the money collected at the stations as prescribed
  • Knowledge of how to hand over passengers who refuse to pay railway dues to the Station Master or the Ticket Collector for prosecution, etc.
  • Knowledge of how to check and confiscate badly dated or undated tickets and prepare their statement
  • Proficient in maintaining the daily trip report showing details of the trains and carriages checked, passengers charged for irregularities that were noticed and names of stations where the cash is deposited
  • Adept at extending help and protection to passengers when sought 
DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of how to carry a light weighing apparatus through the Scale Porter to weigh the luggage in the running train
  • Ability to look after the reservation of the berths and seats
  • Knowledge of how to address public enquiries
