JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Mechanic Aircraft Engine, Field Service/Filed Mechanic Aircraft is expected to perform include:

  • Inspecting and checking engines to locate defects
  • Disassembling engine and accessories such as carburettor, fuel pump starters, generators, ignition hammers, sparking plugs and other hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Checking and detecting faults, removing defective parts, engines, etc. from aeroplane by disconnecting wiring and accessories, installing new or repaired engines and parts and making final adjustments to prepare plane for test flights
  • Replacing or repairing defective and worn out parts
  • Performing other miscellaneous duties to service engine
  • Installing new or overhauled engine in the airplane and connecting all the parts and wiring
  • Removing snags as scheduled and preparing plane for test flight​
  • Assisting Aircraft Engineer in carrying out routine maintenance work

  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities

Working hours
  • Individual usually works for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. The organization remains open and functional for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week
  • Shift system may be available
  • Overtime may be required

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 4

Preferably, Bachelor's degree/diploma in aircraft maintenance engineering or aeronautical or aerospace engineering

KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Proficient in removing engine for overhauling by disconnecting tubing, wiring and accessories, unbolting engine and lifting it from plane with chain hoist
  • Adept at replacing or repairing defective or worn out parts and making necessary accessories and making final inspection to ensure they are in proper operating order
  • Well-versed with performing miscellaneous duties to service engine such as flushing crankcase, clearing strainer screens and greasing moving parts, etc.
  • Adept at installing new or overhauled engine in airplane
  • Proficient in connecting all parts and wiring, checking and removing snags as scheduled and preparing plane for test flight
