JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Bearing Maintenance is expected to perform include:

  • Inspecting and identifying problems in the equipment
  • Rectifying the root cause of the problems by replacing the bearings, lubricating the bearings, etc.
  • Ensuring fitness of all types of bearings in the plant
  • Undertaking routine maintenance work

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Preferably, 10th
  • Certified training for Bearing Maintenance (programme aligned to ISC/Q0816 released by Indian Iron and Steel Sector Skills Council of India)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings of the equipment
  • Well-versed with tools, tackles and equipment like lifting equipment, various size of spanner, dial gauge, etc. used for bearing maintenance job
  • Proficient with various type of lubricants and their respective usage
  • Adept with various types of bearing maintenance and changing procedure
  • Well-versed with normal running characteristics of relevant equipment
  • Knowledge of implications of not adhering to sequence of activities and operations for bearing maintenance
  • ​Two weeks of hands-on training

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1
  • ​Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a team​​​
  • Training in machining, welding, gas cutting, assembling
  • Training in working knowledge of tools and fixture 
  • Training in 5S and safety practices
  • Training in​ working at heights, confined spaces and high temperatures
