The tasks a Cooker (Silkworm) is expected to perform include:
• Boiling the cocoons to kill pupa inside the cocoon
• Tracing the end of silk filament for reeling silk
• Filling the tube containing water with cocoons and letting in steam to heat it
• Allowing cocoons to remain in boiling water for a specified period of time
• Ensuring that all pupa inside cocoon are killed
• Making sure that the water is kept at prescribed temperature
• Stirring the cocoons and boiling water with wooden stick to which they get attached
• Collecting in ladle cocoons whose filaments are drawn out
• Delivering all the boiled cocoons at reeling section so as to draw silk
• Reeling the silk over the reeling machine
