JOB DESCRIPTION 1

 

The tasks a Case Finisher (Leather Product) is expected to perform include:
Assembling and finishing suitcases and radio, jewellery and instrument cases
Lining or covering products with material, such as leather, velvet or satin
Inserting hinge wings into slots in top and bottom sections of case and securing them in grooves, using pinch pliers or rivets, nails or screws hinges, in position
Opening case and verifying lid angle, using table gauge
Cutting specified material to size, using pattern and shears or obtaining pre-cut fabric
Brushing glue on area to be covered
Positioning material on inner or outer surfaces of case and smoothing out wrinkles, using fingers
Trimming excess fabric from joints, seams and edges, using knife
Gluing or nailing bracing blocks to case and covering blocks with material
Pressing cushion or pad into upper and lower sections of case
Examining case for misalignment of edges
Opening and closing lid to test action of hinges and spring
Holding case over air nozzle and pressing pedal to remove dust and lint
Packing cases in shipping cartons

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 

Minimum – 10th class

KEY COMPETENCIES 1

 

Ability to use all the measuring instruments in order to achieve the perfect dimensions
Knowledge of appropriate ways of using cutting tools, like knife, scissors, etc.
Ability to test a suitcase for any loose hinges, nuts, misalignment of edges, etc.
Ability to pack all the prepared cases and send them for shipping
