The tasks a Crabbing Machineman (Woollen Textile) is expected to perform include:
• Tending crabbing machine for setting weave and giving stability to woollen cloth
• Setting cloth roll at feed end of the machine
• Passing end of cloth length through guides and roller of the machine and fixing it with collecting cylinder for processing in hot water tank
• Winding the cloth to roll
• Filling tank with water and opening steam valve to boil it
• Setting pressure of rollers and starting machine to rotate cloth through water and rollers
• Observing pressure gauges periodically and maintaining required pressure and temperature of water
• Draining off hot water and letting cold water to cool processed cloth
• Collecting processed cloth for subsequent operations
• Cleaning and oiling the machine
