JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks an Assembler, Automobile is expected to perform include:

Assembling different parts and units of automobile, installing them on frame and making necessary connections, adjustment, settings, etc. according to specifications
Assembling engine, gear box, front and rear axles, etc. individually according to specifications and ensuring their stipulated performance
Placing body frames, side members, supporting frames, etc. in special jigs and securing them tightly by fixing bolts and nuts to different parts

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ⁴

Preferably, B.Tech/B.E. in mechanical

KEY COMPETENCIES ¹

Proficiency in assisting spot welder to spot weld body frame
Skilled in fitting front and rear axle to body and tightening with nuts and bolts
Well-versed with collecting various components and parts from sub-assembly or from nearby bins and fitting them to body or chassis as appropriate
Knowledge of lifting assembled engine manually or using hoisting equipment carefully, placing it over engine frame of chassis and securing it in position with bolts and nuts
Proficiency in fitting clutch, gear box propeller shaft, etc. and making necessary settings and adjustments
Adept at gathering such parts like radiator, alternator, water pump, hydraulic/vacuum brakes, etc. from nearby sub-assembly line and fitting them to vehicle
Well-versed with making necessary adjustments, connections and alterations to fittings as directed
Knowledge of checking for wheel alignment using special equipment and making necessary adjustments to brakes
Proficiency in delivering assembled vehicle to trim line for fitting of upholstery, door and window glasses, door locks and other fittings
Skilled in lubricating various moving parts of vehicle with grease or oil

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES ¹

Knowledge of assembling engine, gear boxes, axles, hydraulic brake system, etc.
Time management skills
Ability to work independently
Problem-solving skills
Analytical skills
