JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks an Assembler, Bicycle is expected to perform include:

• Assembling different cycle components and parts to make a complete bicycle

• Keeping or stocking different components and parts near the work table

• Fitting the different parts together to form units

• Placing the cycle frame in special jigs and fixtures and assembling the different units

• Examining and testing the assembled units and cycle for correct alignment

• Adjusting the wheel nuts and screws for proper tension of the driving chain, free movement of the wheels, proper functioning of the brakes, etc. as necessary

• Testing the performance of the assembled cycle and making the necessary adjustments

• Oiling and greasing important friction points

WORK ENVIRONMENT ¹

• It is not a desk job

• Need not handle a team

• Local travelling is not a part of this job role

• Part-time work and contractual jobs maybe available

• Work from home option is not available

Working hours

• Companies usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company

• Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ⁴

Minimum – ITI (Mechanical) graduate

KEY COMPETENCIES ¹

• Knowledge of a wide range of cycling equipment

• Ability to recognize faulty equipment and to carry out maintenance and repairs

• Skilled in assembling and fitting the cycle parts according to the specification

• Ability to carry the assembling operations following all the health and safety measures

• Knowledge of the adequate ways of examining the product

• Skilled in greasing the friction points

• Skilled in aligning the wheels

• Physically fit
