The tasks a Oarsman is expected to perform include:

  • Rowing boats, barges and other water-crafts using oars, sweeps, etc. individually and in groups
  • Fixing oars in braces on sides of boat
  • Taking position in boat
  • Pulling oars by hand to propel boat
  • Stopping the pulling of oars at destination or when asked by Boatman
