JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Bellhop (Hotel & Restaurant) is expected to perform include:

  • Performing a combination of duties that largely involve serving hotel guests
  • Escorting the incoming hotel guests to rooms
  • Assisting the guests with hand luggage
  • Offering the guest with the information pertaining to available services and facilities of the hotel, points of interest and entertainment attractions
  • Inspecting the guest's room to ensure that the furnishings are in order and supplies are adequate
  • Explaining the features of room such as operation of radio, television, night-lock and how to place telephone calls
  • Paging the guests in lobby, dining room or other parts of the hotel
  • Delivering the messages and running errands
  • Delivering room service orders and picking up articles for laundry and valet service
  • Arranging taxi for guests and transporting guests to specific location or local areas in car or motorised cart​
  • Keeping the record of calls for service
  • Delivering the packages, suitcases and trunks of the customers
  • Setting up the sample rooms
WORK ENVIRONMENT 1, 2
  • It is not a desk job
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs may be available
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • Individual usually works for 5/6 days a week and 10/12 hours everyday. The organization or institution remains open and functional for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week
  • Shift system may be available
  • Overtime may be required

Preferably, diploma in hotel management/hospitality management
