JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Chemical Engineer, Petroleum is expected to perform include:​

  • Developing new or improved techniques for treatment
  • Refining​ petroleum extracts and its by-products
  • Designing and supervising construction, installation and operation of equipment and plant
  • Conducting test runs and surveying refining equipment and plant operations
  • Working out material and energy balances as well as economic evaluation of balances
  • Preparing process designs, cost estimates, technical reports and technical data
  • Observing and recording refining operating data for analysing plant performance
  • Recommending measures to improve operating efficiency
  • Checking product quality, deviation and following up difficulties in blending, viscosity, vapour pressure and other specifications
  • Analysing losses and calculating material and energy balance
  • Deciding or recommending product pattern after studying market requirements
  • Preparing drawings of process designs and other engineering drawings as required

Working hours
  • Factories usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/10 hours everyday. This may vary from factory to factory
