JOB DESCRIPTION 1

 

The tasks a Hose Maker (Rubber Goods) is expected to perform include:
Making rubber hoses by wrapping plies (layers) of rubberized fabric and gum rubber stock on rubber tubes by means of wrapping machine and vulcanizing pan
Placing mandrel and pre-cut rubber tubing on workbench
Swabbing mandrel with soap stone solution and pushing it into rubber tubing
Adjusting guides on machine to accommodate ply stock of specified width
WORK ENVIRONMENT 

 

It needs one to be on their toes
Need not handle a team
Local travelling is not a part of this job role
Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
Work from home option is not available
Working hours

 

Working hours are 10/12 hours everyday for 5/6 days a week. This may vary from factory to factory
Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

KEY COMPETENCIES 1

 

Proficiency in positioning mandrel on machine rollers and swabbing rubber tubing on mandrel with rubber cement to provide adhesive surface
Adept at positioning pre-cut ply stock between guides and depressing pedal to wind and roll ply stock around rubber tubing
Well-versed with cementing band on hose in specified location
Knowledge of examining hose for wrinkles and loose plies, smoothening wrinkles and pressing plies together, using fingers and roller
Well-versed with measuring dimensions of hose with rule, callipers, and gauges, and cutting off excess rubber with knife
Adept at trimming and cementing tubing to seal raw ends of ply stock
Proficiency in wrapping fabric around hose to prepare hose for curing
DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1

 

Knowledge of winding wire between plies for reinforcement of hose
Knowledge of clamping or cementing metal fittings to ends of hose using rubber cement and hand tools
Knowledge of winding rope around hose, on corrugated mandrel to hold hose against contours of mandrel during cure
