JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks a Mason Tiling is expected to perform include: 
  • Identifying, cutting, grinding, shaping, laying, fixing, and finishing the tiles on floors and walls
  • Applying grouts and sealants for flooring and cladding works
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT 1
  • It is not a desk job
  • The candidate will supervise a team of Masons Level-2 and other helpers 
  • Local travelling is not a part of this job profile
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs maybe available
  • Work from home option is not available 
 
Working hours
  • Companies usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company 
  • Overtime maybe required

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Minimum – Equivalent to minimum 5th standard
  • Certified training for Mason Tiling (programme aligned to CON/Q0104 job released by Construction Skill Development Council)
 
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Basic knowledge of principles of measurement
  • Familiar with different types of tiles, their sizes, shapes, properties and their use
  • Knowledge of different processes for laying tile on floor, wall and roof
  • Skilled in use of basic tools and tackles for laying tiles
  • Knowledge of basic methods and techniques of preparing bed mortar, cement slurry and cement paste as applicable
  • Knowledge of different type of spacers and method of fixing and removing spacers
  • Familiar with different types of tile trims/strips and their uses
  • Basic knowledge of standard specifications of all grouting tools and materials
  • Familiar with different types of liquid polymeric additives
 
DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1

Training for 8 to 12 weeks to qualify test & assessment by authorized agency for behaviour, knowledge & skill as per all relevant NOS for Tiling Mason Level‐3
