JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Binder is expected to perform include:

  • Sewing the free edges of carpet with suitable threads matching with base colour of design to bind fringes, add strength, protect against damages to edges and enhance the look of the carpet
  • Maintaining work area, tools and machines​

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Minimum – Preferably Class V
  • Certified training for Binder (programme aligned to HCS/Q5408 job released by Handicrafts & Carpet Sector Skill Council)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of material class of threads
  • Knowledge of types of threads, types of design defects, tuft density and carpet dimension
  • Skilled in process flow in tufted carpet manufacturing sector
  • Knowledge of importance of marking / coding / labelling / numbering, etc. for threads followed at various process stages of tufting for identification and traceability
