JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Concrete Pump Operator is expected to perform include:

  • Operating power-driven, stationary or portable pumps and manifold systems
  • Transferring concrete or slurries to and from various vessels and pipes to the required location​
  • Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting of a concrete pump

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Preferably, 8th
  • Certified training for Concrete Pump Operator (programme aligned to IES/Q0401 job released by Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of different types of concrete pumps, their use and function
  • Knowledge of working of engine, transmission, their use and function
  • Familiar with principles of friction
  • Skilled in steering mechanisms and correct way of steering on slopes
  • Familiar with procedure of filling diesel and coolant in the machine
  • Basic knowledge of methods of greasing and lubricating
  • Familiar with various types of hand signals used on the site
  • Knowledge of interconnections and capacities of pipelines, valve manifolds, pumps and tankage
  • Basic knowledge of functioning of a transit mixer
  • Basic knowledge of properties of concrete
  • Familiar with procedure of cleaning the pump and valve
  • Basic knowledge of principles of hydraulics
  • Familiar with common defects and general causes of breakdown
DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1
  • Certification training in concrete pump operations preferred
  • Good hand eye co-ordination
