JOB DESCRIPTION

The tasks a Laboratory Technician Physical is expected to perform include:

Preparing steel samples, testing them for different physical properties against national/international standards
Recording the physical properties and reporting them to the concerned department of the steel plant

WORK ENVIRONMENT

It is not a desk job
Need not handle a team
Local travelling is not a part of this job profile

Working hours

Working hours are 8/9 hours a day for 5/6 days a week. This may vary from organization to organization

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

Minimum – B.Sc. (with Physics as a subject) pass/Dip. in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) pass
Certified training for Laboratory Technician Physical (programme aligned to ISC/Q0801 job released by Indian Iron & Steel Sector Skill Council)

KEY COMPETENCIES

Skilled in operating machines, equipment, tools and tackles used in sample preparation
Knowledge of technical implications of tests and their impact on product/process
Skilled in handling basic computer operations
Knowledge of micro-structures
Skilled in cleaning, lubricating, attending to basic maintenance requirements of the machines

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES

Training in technical implications of the tests and their impact on product/process
Training in basic computer operations
