JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks a Fitter – Processing is expected to perform include:

Carrying out maintenance activities of all the machines in processing department like singeing, CBR, mercerizing, drying range, jigger, stenter, jet dyeing, soft flow, calendaring and finishing machines
Carrying out all maintenance activities like erecting, dismantling, assembling, levelling, attending and resolving repairs and breakdown in processing department
Carrying out regular preventive maintenance activities to ensure proper functioning of all machines
Maintaining health, safety and security at workplace

WORK ENVIRONMENT ¹

It needs one to be on their toes
Need not handle a team
Local travelling maybe a part of this job role
Part-time work and contractual jobs maybe available in some cities
Work from home option is not available

Working hours

Working hours are 8/9 hours everyday for 6/7 days a week. This may vary from company to company
Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ¹

Minimum – 10th standard, preferably ITI certificate
Certified training for Fitter – Processing (programme aligned to TSC/Q5701 released by Textile Sector Skill Council)

KEY COMPETENCIES ¹

Knowledge of various defects in the fabric due to yarn, weaving or processing
In-depth knowledge of material and process flow in a processing unit
Knowledge of the functioning of various controls of the machines
Knowledge of material handling and types of material handling equipment being used
Well-versed with the functioning and methodology for operating different material handling equipment

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES ¹

Training in textile processing for 3-6 months
