JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Designer & Sketcher is expected to perform include:

  • Creating or reproducing design on suitable graph papers as per carpet size and quality
  • Transferring design back on base fabric for tufted carpet quality or on tracing paper for reference for hand knotted carpets

WORK ENVIRONMENT 1

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Minimum – Preferably Class VIII
  • Certified training for Designer & Sketcher (programme aligned to HCS/Q5201 job released by Handicrafts & Carpet Sector Skill Council)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of types of fibres, threads, knot types, tuft density, etc.
  • Knowledge of process flow in handmade carpet manufacturing sector
  • Skilled in art and design
  • Knowledge of using measurement tools and equipment
  • Knowledge of carpet types and its characteristics
