JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks a Nail Technician is expected to perform include:

Preparing and maintaining the work area
Performing manicure and pedicure
Performing nail care services like nail art application, electric filing, refilling, nail enhancement and overlays, gel polish application, etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT ^{1, 2}

It is not a desk job
Need not handle a team
Local travelling is not a part of this job role
Part-time work and contractual jobs may be available
Work from home option may be available

Working hours

Organizations usually work for 5/ 6 days a week and 8/10 hours every day. This may vary from organization to organization
Shift system may be available
Overtime is not required
Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ¹

Preferably, 8^th
Certified training for Nail Technician (programme aligned to BWS/Q0402 released by Beauty and Wellness Sector Skill Council)

KEY COMPETENCIES ¹

Ability to prepare and maintain the work area
Proficient in performing manicure and pedicure services
Well-versed in performing nail enhancement and overlay using liquid and powder (acrylic) or UV gel
Competent to perform nail overlay using electric filing
Experienced to perform refilling and nail art application
Ability to apply gel polish
Knowledge of the structure, function and characteristics of nail and process of nail growth
Knowledge of products, tools and equipment suitable to carry the procedure of acrylic nail enhancement
Knowledge of nail diseases or disorders

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES ¹

Communication skills
Interpersonal skills
Good hand-eye co-ordination
Certified training in Level 3 Assistant Nail Technician
