JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks a Civil Engineer, Building is expected to perform include:

Planning, organizing and supervising construction and repair of buildings etc.

Visiting site to ascertain soil condition, availability of labour, materials, etc.

Deciding type of structure to be built, and materials to be used
-
Preparing detailed drawings and estimates according to requirements of authority concerned with assistance of Draftsmen, Civil and Estimators
-
Laying specifications of various components finishing, flooring and architectural features or gets them done by Architects
-
Arranging materials, labour, machinery etc.
-
Getting concrete cured (sprayed with water) and getting cubes tested in laboratory as work progresses to ensure design strength
-
Getting roofing, flooring, terracing and distempering or white-colour washing done according to specification
-
Checking measurements carried out by Overseer from time to time for payment of bills
-
Inviting tenders and awarding work to one or more contractors

Working hours- Construction companies usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

Minimum –Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering |
KEY COMPETENCIES

Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology

Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models

Adeptof in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications

Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads
-
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modelling, leadership technique and production methods
-
Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions
