The tasks a Chemical Engineer, General is expected to perform include:
• Directing operations of chemical plants
• Supervising operations and equipment for dissolving filtration, evaporation, dehydration, reduction, concentration, combination, crystallization, and all other unit operations for
manufacture of heavy chemicals, fine chemicals, etc. according to specifications
• Studying existing processes or equipment used, their efficiency and production level
• Conducting research into principles of chemistry, physics, thermodynamics, etc., to develop new process
• Improving the design of equipment for increasing efficiency of production
• Supervising installation of equipment for production on commercial scale
• Designing, constructing and studying operation of pilot plants to test efficiency of process before construction of full-sized equipment
• Supervising and co-ordinating activities of works operating grinders, mixers, vats, stills reactors and other equipment
