JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks a Draughtsman, Civil is expected to perform include:

• Preparing drawings of buildings, stores, highways, dams, culverts, etc. from sketches, notes or data for purposes of construction or alterations

• Taking instructions from civil engineer studies sketches and calculating dimensions from notes or data

• Creating detailed drawings of specific portions as required

WORK ENVIRONMENT ²

• It is a desk job

• May need to handle a team

• Local travelling is a part of this job role

• Part-time work and contractual jobs maybe available

• Work from home option is not available

Working hours

• Working hours are 10/12 hours everyday for 5/6 days a week

• Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ³

Minimum – Diploma in Civil

KEY COMPETENCIES ¹

• Proficiency in indicating types of materials to be used, artistic and structural features, etc. in drawing as necessary

• Knowledge of preparing drawings of buildings, stores, highways, dams, culverts, etc. from sketches, notes or data for purposes of construction or alterations

• Well-versed with preparing models of construction work

• Knowledge of drawing to given scale different elevations, plans, sectional views etc. of desired construction using drawing instruments

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES ¹

• Ability to trace drawing and make blueprints

• Knowledge of preparing or checking estimates and schedules for material and labour

• Knowledge of preparing tender schedules and draft agreements

• Knowledge of duties performed by architectural draughtsman
