JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks an Assistant Mason Level-2 is expected to perform include:

  • Handling and storing material

  • Erecting and dismantling of 3.6 metre temporary scaffolds

  • Building of brick/block foundation and walls

  • Fixing door and window frames in rooms/cubicles

  • Plastering of walls, floors, ceilings and various surfaces

  • Soling of bricks and PCC flooring

  • Performing tasks under health, safety and environmental regulations

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • It is not a desk job

  • Work from home is not available

  • Part-time work is not available

  • Contractual jobs are available

  • Travelling is required for this job

  • Role does not involve team handling

Working hours

  • Working hours are a minimum of 8 hours a day for 5 to 6 days a week

  • The job involves frequent to daily extended hours, working in shifts, on holidays, etc.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Minimum - Preferably 5th standard pass/Helper Mason Level-1 qualified
  • Certified training for Assistant Mason (programme aligned to CON/Q 0102 released by Construction Skill Development Council)

 

KEY COMPETENCIES 1

  • Working knowledge of loading, unloading, stacking and handling materials according to its properties, size shape and height

  • Expertise in using tools, equipment and process for erecting and dismantling 3.6 metre scaffolds

  • Knowledge of quality, soaking, face appearance and arrangement of bricks

  • Knowledge of types of bonds and closures, vertical/horizontal joints and the required thickness and proportion of mortar

  • Working knowledge of filling of RCC beam/column & masonry joints/gaps with non‐shrink materials & pebbles

  • Working knowledge of fixing doors and window frames

  • Knowledge of methods and types of plastering, brick soiling and PCC flooring

  • Understanding of how to identify, select and use basic dressing material, first aid and PPEs

  • Sound knowledge of accident, health, safety and evacuation procedures and their reporting

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1

Trained to clear required tests and certification for knowledge and skills as per NOS Assistant Mason Level-2
